Summer calls for just as much skin care as winter

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

It’s easy to forget about certain necessary precautions when tackling the outdoors in the summer. We spend our sunny days daydreaming about vast ice forests, traversing the arctic and climbing the world’s highest peaks, requiring layers upon layers of clothing and ColdAvenger masks to prevent from becoming ice fossils to be discovered in millions of years. But the summer weather also requires some necessary precautionary health measures that need to be addressed just as adamantly as wintertime health measures. Equally as painful – and possibly more dangerous than wind burn and frostbite, sunburn can be just as detrimental as any cold weather-induced skin ailment. Just because you’re  not making an epic 600 mile trek to the South Pole (Doug Stoup) or leading the first women’s crossing of Greenland (Felicity Aston), your skin and health are still at risk for permanent damage. Outdoor USA Magazine did a quick blurb on how dangerous not taking care of your skin in the summer can be and it was less than comforting.

That being said, to ensure there are no speed bumps to your upcoming epic winter expeditions, do yourself a favor and slap on some sunscreen before you head out for your summer adventures. And don’t forget, your ColdAvenger will do its job to protect your facial skin.

Spring cleaning could yield some hidden treasures

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

The end of ski season marks the beginning of spring and summer activities for resorts around the country. That means resort employees are scurrying to set up alpine slides, ziplines, hiking and biking trails and picnic areas.  Essentially, they’re doing a huge spring cleaning.

Resorts around the country set aside a time at the end of every season to make sure they clean up all of the belongings lost under the lift (and elsewhere) during the ski season. Some of the gems they find? Ski poles, single skis and, when they’re lucky, a $20,000 Rolex watch.

Looks like the end of season isn’t all bad for ski junkies. Check out the full article in The Missoulian here.

Down Time Before Go Time

September is a critical turning point in my year— the end of a busy summer working on new product development and securing retail purchase orders occupy my brain space and my time! It is September, which means our big seasons of Fall and Winter are oh so near. So, I had to make a quick break for it, relax and catch up on some fishing, my suntan (no comments please) and take a mini-vacation to do some deep sea fishing in Hawaii. I was lucky enough to go with my pals at Waypoint Outdoor and Shane from my PR team. A total boys trip and I loved every second of it!

Here are a few pics of the trip! Back to business now, totally refreshed and ready for the cold weather to bring it on!
