FHC Outdoors Review

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

FHC Outdoors is a website dedicated to fishing and outdoor sports. On their site, they put things this way: “FHC is dedicated to clear and concise methods that lead to irreplaceable memories.” We like that.

In a recent review for Outdoor Blogger Network, Daniel at FHC took the ColdAvenger Pro for a test-drive on the ski slopes of Mount Spokane. He had things like this to say:

“The Talus ColdAvenger Pro will change cold weather sports forever…No matter your sport, whether it be fishing, boating, snowboarding, skiing or skydiving, this is one mask designed to take any punishment mother nature can throw.”

That seems to say it all – precisely!

Please read the complete review for some details about why they like the ColdAvenger, and follow their blog for other good stuff.

I Am ColdAvenger

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Have you noticed that ColdAvenger is showing up EVERYWHERE?

Have you noticed how many polar expeditions, extreme cold races, runners, dogsledders, skiers, snowmobile adventurers and more have started popping up wearing our mask?

Have you noticed how many stories are coming up about folks using the mask to help fight asthma and breathe better?

We have.

So we created a place to put all those extreme adventurers on display. We’ve asked everyone who wears a ColdAvenger to explore wild destinations, to tackle the hardest challenges, to climb the tallest mountains, to ski to the end of the earth, to stay out longer and have more fun, to send us their story, under the tagline: I am ColdAvenger.

At www.Iamcoldavenger.com we are introducing these amazing features:

  • Submit your I am ColdAvenger story to us, and we will publish as many as we can.
  • Scroll through all the submissions and learn how people have been putting their mask to use out in the cold!
  • Read features about Talus Athletes and the incredible expeditions to the extreme corners of the earth.
  • Learn how many places the ColdAvenger has taken people, and dream of some places it could take you.
  • Read testimonials about asthma success stories and learn about how ColdAvenger is helping people get outside and breath better!

Get over toIamColdAvenger.com and live vicariously, or post your ColdAvenger story and declare yourself “I am ColdAvenger!”

The Push to the South Pole

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

What’s your version of challenge? What’s your New Year’s resolution? Lose a few pounds? Clean the bathroom?

How about trek to the South Pole? How about leading a team of adaptive athletes on custom-made sit-skis as they make history - Pushing to the South Pole?

Doug Stoup is founder and expedition leader of Ice Axe Expeditions, which leads adventurers, skiers and riders to Antarctica and Spitsbergen, Norway.  Doug boasts many first descents, including the first ski and snowboard descent of the highest peak in Antarctica (Vinson Massif, 16,044 ft). Having led 20 expeditions to Antarctica and 10 to the Arctic Ocean, Doug is today’s most traveled polar explorer.

And now he is taking it one further, teaming up with John Davis – two-time Paralympic gold medalist in the Lillehammer and Nagano Winter Games – and Grant Korgan, a world-class kayaker and adventurer. Both Davis and Korgan are athletes with spinal cord injuries.

On January 17, 2012, for the first time in history, the team will push the limits and themselves to the most inhospitable place on the planet – the South Pole. The chosen date marks the 100-year anniversary when Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s Terra Nova expedition reached the earth’s most remote spot.

Keep up with the preparation and the journey on the website for the effort. We applaud Doug, John, Grant, and seasoned guide Tal Fletcher for pushing the limits.
